Even if the Pikes Peak region’s housing market is showing a few signs of life, foreclosure filings continue to mount; the El Paso County Public Trustee’s Office expects more than 5,000 this year, which would be a third straight annual record. To that end, the Pikes Peak Foreclosure Prevention Partnership, a non-profit group that’s offered volunteer assistance to homeowners for years, will hold its Pikes Peak Housing and Community Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Hillside Community Center, 925 S. Institute St. in south central Colorado Springs. Several housing groups and financial professionals will assist homeowners with information on avoiding foreclosure, buying a home and managing debt, among several other topics. Representatives from the El Paso County Public Trustee’s Office, the Colorado Division of Civil Rights, the Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s Office and the Colorado Attorney General’s Office also will be on hand.
